Join us for a fabulous small group luxury cruise. No.8 Tours have exclusive use for 6 days and 5 nights, cruising amongst the many beautiful islands of the Hauraki Gulf. Picture the golden beaches, glistening blue water and Pohutukawa in full flower to set the scene. Holidaymakers in their yachts, fishermen hoping for the meal of tasty snapper are all part of the vibrant scene of the Hauraki Gulf. We will be stopping at some of the iconic Islands in the Gulf with plenty of time to stretch the legs, maybe take in a wine tour or perhaps some time to shop for a new sun hat at Waiheke. Experience listening to the evening or dawn chorus of our native birds at one of the gulfs Island sanctuaries. 

The Te Haerenga ( Formerly the Ipipiri), at 146 feet (44.5 metres), is the largest cruising ship permanently based in New Zealand and provides a truly impressive cruise experience. Spanning four levels, this catamaran includes 30 ocean view cabins, a spacious sundeck with 360-degree views and a restaurant and bar. Cruising at 12 knots, the vessel has been designed to provide maximum stability and minimum wake.

Auckland - Kawau Island 

Pickups complete we make our way to the “City of Sails” stopping for morning tea, a chance to meet your fellow travellers. We then head to the Auckland Botanic Gardens for a lovely lunch and time to stretch the legs around these marvellous grounds. After lunch, we board our bus with our bags and take the short ride to our Vessel moored at the Viaduct harbour. Once on board and settled into your lovely cabins we will listen to the briefing from the captain and crew. We then start our exploration of the Gulf, relaxing on the decks, cruising out past the boaties and yachties. We will be arriving at our destination for the night at Kawau Island, to our anchorage for the evening. There will be time to relax and join other guests for a drink before sitting down to a delicious buffet dinner. Your crew will brief you during the evening on the following day’s itinerary to suit the conditions. 


Kawau Island - Tiritirimatangi - Waiheke Island 

After breakfast in the galley we enjoy a  walk around  Mansion House. Sir George Grey, the third Governor of NZ purchased Kawau Island in 1862 and began establishing a ‘Garden of Eden’ including transforming the old Copper Mine Manager’s house into an imposing mansion. Wander through the carefully restored Mansion House and admire the many artifacts gleaned from his travels through the Pacific, or marvel at the everyday objects of the Victorian era. Quietly amble through the elegant subtropical gardens with Weka, Wallabies and Peacocks. Enjoy freshly roasted coffee and tempting treats at the Café, or take a short stroll to swim in the clear waters of sandy Lady’s Bay. It’s an easy walk to the lookout for spectacular views of the Coppermine. The more active can relive history by following the Miners Track through bush and along the foreshore to the Coppermine itself, where the boat will meet you. Once everyone is back on board, our next stop will be Tiritiri Matangi to discover the island sanctuary’s unrivalled range of wildlife and one of the country’s most successful conservation projects. After lunch we will head over to Waiheke Island where we will spend the evening and enjoy dinner together overlooking another spectacular bay.

Waking to the morning song provided by local Man O War Tui and Bellbirds. A relaxed cooked breakfast awaits, the moment we have been waiting for…Santa arrives!! Yay! fingers crossed we all make it onto the nice list and receive a little gift from Santa himself. After morning tea, we cruise to * Pakatoa Island once a magnificent resort and now for sale!! bring your cheque book. We will anchor and take the time to have a stroll around this piece of paradise exploring a few of the nooks and crannies. Hopefully you have worked up an appetite by. We will make our way back on board for the fantastic Christmas lunch that awaits us. Enjoy the rest of the afternoon lazing about on the various decks, lounges or in your cabin. Whilst where relaxing our captain will head our vessel back towards Waiheke. Exploring another beautiful bay on Waiheke Island in the afternoon. For those feeling energetic an option to stroll to Stony Batter might be just the ticket. Once everyone is back on board we will locate a shelltered spot to anchor for the evening. 


Waiheke Island - Great Barrier Island 

After a leisurely breakfast, we will make our way over to Port Fitzroy Harbour, Great Barrier Island. Make sure you look out for dolphins and whales along the way as there is an abundance of them all around the Hauraki Gulf. Spend the afternoon enjoying your choice of water activities or on shore excursions before we move to Smoke House Bay for cocktails and a BBQ dinner. 


Great Barrier Island 

Enjoy a buffet breakfast and take in the sights of the bay before we head off to discover more of this amazing island and its numerous picture postcard bays. Explore the area by Kayak or by foot, take a walk on one of the many tracks or just simply relax. Then enjoy the peaceful surrounds of the tranquil bay as we spend our last evening together. 


Great Barrier Island - Auckland 

After breakfast, we will make our way back across the Hauraki Gulf with a stop at Rakino Island for lunch and your choice of water activities or take stroll across Rakinos beaches. Time permitting we may take a stroll around the Rangitoto shoreline to view the historic family owned baches. 

Cruising into the Viaduct Harbour is always great fun and offers brilliant views of the city and vast fleets of pleasure craft both on the water or their moorings. 

We will arrive back in Auckland for a 4.00pm disembarkation at Viaduct Harbour. We will board our bus and make the short journey back home. New friendships made and wonderful memories shared.
