No.8 Tours – NZ’s Senior Travel Club – Press Release
A message from Co-founder Andy Somerville
No.8 Tours is New Zealand's largest specialist senior travel club and has decided to suspend all tours
day trips and shows to ensure the safety of their travel club members.
No.8 Tours – New Zealand's Senior Travel Club delivers over 85 trips a year to Senior New Zealanders,
3500 of which live in the Bay of Plenty; their tours cover all regions, and they support over 250
suppliers ranging from accommodation, airlines and activity providers.

75 plus age bracket, folks who are at the highest risk of serious illness.
We have a duty of care for our members which we take very seriously they are like family to us;
personally I wouldn't want my mum or dad travelling unnecessarily at this crucial time of the
It is unchartered waters for No.8, and we haven't cancelled a tour in 11 years of business. We know
our decision is going to affect our suppliers adversely; as an example, we are Air New Zealand's largest
direct account in the Bay of Plenty and hit hard already by the repercussions of travel cancellations.
By making this call, we hope we are playing our part as a responsible business. We feel we will be one
step closer to coming out the other side quicker, hopefully healthy, a little battered and bruised but
excited for the future. We will rebuild and reconnect trade relationships with our suppliers.
A review towards recommencing tours will take place in mid-May pending advice from the
government and Ministry of Health or if new information comes to light allowing for an earlier date.
