DAY ONE D
The order of Festival activities listed are subject to change once the organizers have officially released them. Celebrate a fabulous era at the Art Deco Festival in our very own Art Deco Capital, Napier. This annual festival in February gets the people reveling in the 1930s atmosphere created in the heart of the city, giving you the feeling of time travel back to the romance of glitz and glamour! Leaving Tauranga, we will stop along the way for morning tea, then onto Taupo for a wander around in your own time and time to seek out a café for your lunch. We will complete the journey through the mountain ranges to our accommodation in Havelock North with lunch behind us. Tonight, we will enjoy our evening meal out at one of the many lovely local restaurants.
DAY TWO B, MT, L, D
This morning we will step back in time to a different era visiting the gorgeous Greenhill lodge which was originally built in 1897.It now stands in 73 acres and operates as a luxury accommodation lodge in a tranquil setting in the heart of Hawke's Bay we'll enjoy a tour of the property and some refreshments before continuing to our next destination. After our lovely morning, we'll continue through to Gwavas Garden Homestead for a tour of the property, award-winning woodland garden and finishing with a tasty catered lunch. From here we will continue our journey into Napier to join in the afternoon's abundance of Art Deco Festivities. There is so much to do and see, no matter where you go or what you do, the atmosphere is electric. You will be greeted by strangers as you walk down the street, complimented on your Art Deco attire, and made to feel very welcome. Dinner will be out tonight in the heart of the atmosphere and celebrations.
DAY THREE B, D
Dust off that Vintage attire this morning, we will start the day by taking a tour around Napier's historic prison located on Napier's Bluff Hill. Then we are back into town to experience the finest Art Deco cafes, fabulous fashion, classic films, vintage car displays or taking in Napier’s incredible Art Deco heritage. This afternoon, you will board the coach again for a private guided art deco tour of Napier's period Architecture. Time permitting, we visit the Art Deco center to view a short film covering Napier's traumatic earthquake. We will then return to our Havelock accommodation to freshen up before heading out for a lovely dinner.
DAY FOUR B, MT, L
Time to say farewell Napier. However, before we leave, we will stop at Te Mata Figs, established by a couple out of their passion for growing amazing figs in the warm Mediterranean climate of Hawkes Bay. After a talk and a tasting, we drive up Te Mata Peak, which offers the best panoramic views over Hawkes Bay. Before we leave, we will head to Elephant Hill, a stunning and innovative winery estate located on the idyllic Te Awanga coast, for some wine tasting! We will continue through to another local gem, ' Birdwood Gallery', a must-see for all visitors and locals, offering a gallery, sculpture garden, café & old-fashioned sweet shop we will take the time to enjoy a lovely lunch there. After our fun and informative time away, we'll continue our journey back to our homes.
