DAY ONE                                                                 L ,D

We travel by coach to Auckland before flying to Claris, where our driver will meet us for the start of our Great Barrier Island adventure. On arrival, we head straight to the beach for a picnic lunch, followed by time to stretch our legs with a stroll along the stunning white sands of Medlands Beach. After our first glimpse of island paradise, we continue to Tryphena Wharf to visit the charming Shoal Bay Pottery. From there, we meander our way to our waterfront accommodation at Tryphena, perfectly positioned on the water’s edge. As one of Great Barrier Island’s gateways to beautiful beaches, native bush, and abundant birdlife, it’s an idyllic place to unwind. Relax and enjoy the sunset or perhaps take a refreshing swim at Mulberry Grove Beach before dinner.

 DAY TWO                                                               B, MT, L, D

After breakfast, we travel to Whangaparapara to board Sundancer for a stunning coastal cruise. From the vessel, we view the historic Kauri Sawmill and Whaling Station before heading north along the scenic west coast. We pass Mangati and stop at tranquil Bowling Alley Bay for morning tea onboard. Cruising on, we view the gannet colony at Mahuki Island, then visit Rangiahua and Motu Kaikoura to feed the snapper. Disembarking at Karaka Bay, we enjoy lunch and a relaxed walk through the Orama gardens. The journey continues through the sheltered waters of Port Fitzroy Harbour to Glenfern Sanctuary, where we receive an engaging presentation on local wildlife, including kaka parrots, wood pigeons, and banded rail. Our day concludes with a visit to Sunset Rock for breathtaking panoramic views over Port Fitzroy Harbour and beyond.

DAY THREE                                                             B, L, D

Step into a world of wonder and natural beauty with today's full-day tour of Jacques Bees Limited. As we arrive at the front of reception, we'll be greeted by the friendly team who will take us on a guided walk around the stunning property. Jacques Haven is a literal bird and bee paradise, where we'll get to sample some of the best manuka honey in the region. With its unique flavour and health benefits, it's a true taste of New Zealand's natural bounty. After our tour, we'll enjoy some lunch before heading to Okiwi Passion for a garden tour and talk. With its vibrant flora and fauna, it's a feast for the senses and a perfect opportunity to learn about the local environment. From here we'll make our way back to Tryphena, where there will be time for those who would like an afternoon dip or just take some time to put your feet up. We will enjoy our final evening together at a local restaurant, taking the time to review our fabulous time on the Great Barrier.

DAY FOUR                                                              B

This morning we visit the beautiful Puriri Bay and Schooner Bay before heading to the fascinating Milk, Honey & Grain Museum. Here, we gain insight into the lives of the island’s early settlers through displays highlighting local industry, technology, and historical events. This hands-on museum encourages visitors to open drawers, turn handles, and fossick through its many artefacts and hidden treasures. We then visit the Community Arts Village, where local artists showcase their creative work, before enjoying lunch at My Fat Puku. Afterwards, we take a scenic tiki tour to Okupu Beach to admire the ancient pōhutukawa trees, then continue to the “forgotten wharf” at Blind Bay. The drive is wonderfully picturesque, featuring charming old stone bridges and deep gullied streams. Before flying back to Auckland, we make a final stop at the historic Oreville Stamping Battery. On our journey from Auckland to Tauranga, we pause for a brief dinner break.
